What My Clients Say
Bottom line - Katie is amazing and helped our family stay together. She was recommended to us by a reputable trainer in Westbrook from Good Dogz training for her positive training methods, which is what we were looking for since some available negative methods (like shock collars) didn't sit right with us, as instilling more fear and anxiety into already fearful or anxious dogs did not seem productive or healthy for a dog or dogs to live their best lives. Katie started working with us at our home after our 2 corgis started to exhibit inter-dog aggression in June 2024. She gave us practical exercises and training tips and provided feedback on videos we had shared of our dogs that was very helpful almost instantly. Her advice and guidance aligned with a trusted behavior expert from MSPCA in Boston whom we had worked with previously, which further confirmed that Katie and her positive methods were perfect for our family's situation. Other trainers had given advice that included some aversive/negative techniques and/or complete separation of our dogs for 6 months or more which sounded extreme. Katie closely evaluated our corgis and their behavior and did not think that to be the case. It's been almost 2 months since working with Katie and our situation has improved dramatically mainly because we listened to what she was teaching us and applied her advice and teachings in working with our corgis on a daily basis. Seeing the joy and passion she has for her work and observing how much our corgis love her drove home the fact that we made the correct decision to work with her and utilize her positive methods to help resolve our situation. We highly recommend that anyone whose dogs are experiencing behavioral issues reach out to Katie for an assessment. We would hire her time and time again and are very grateful to have found her. ~Sara, Drew + 2 happy corgis from Readfield, ME
"We tell Hutch almost every day that we owe so much to you for teaching us how to handle him!!"
We were struggling to bond with our new Aussie pup, Remy, after about a month together - letting our frustrations and impatience get the best of us. Katie saw how much work we had already done with Remy and assured us we were doing all the right things, and in the areas where we were struggling she knew exactly what tips and guidance was needed to effectively help. Katie’s understanding and knowledge with positive reinforcement was life changing for us, and Remy! To be honest, Katie came in and trained us more than Remy. Once we understood how to best understand Remy, everything changed. We accepted new methods that he really seemed to enjoy and was most receptive too (long lead, flirt pole, licking mat, enrichment toys, 1:1 time with us, etc). We better understood from Katie that Remy has a personality and feelings of his own. Respecting his boundaries worked better than forcing him into a situation just because we (the humans) thought it was okay. Imagine someone forcing you into a situation you were uncomfortable with? Yikes! I couldn’t recommend anyone better to be a part of your dog journey. Katie’s knowledge in all areas of a dogs life (grooming, crate training, potty training, socialization, and more) are unmatched. Do yourself and your dog and a favor - give her a call!
I'm appreciative of Katie's knowledge, enthusiasm, and willingness to listen to understand the needs of her clients. She is committed to the best outcomes for the dogs and they're humans. We have participated in both individual sessions and group sessions with her and her feedback and suggestions have been a valuable resource for us to have more enjoyable interactions in the world.
